HOUSING

The Ashkelon housing market offers choices for every price range. From three- and four-room apartments to single family homes. The common element in all these choices is the affordability of each. Ashkelon has experienced rapid growth over the past ten years with new construction and the lower price of land in the south making purchases or rental affordable to all.

AFFORDABLE. CHOICES.

Whether you want to live in an apartment or single family house, Ashkelon has a large range of units available. And because of the rapid growth, Ashkelon is currently a buyers market, offering beautiful residences for far less than the cost in other large cities.

Despite the rapid growth of Ashkelon over the past 10-15 years, the city still has a a lot of residences at reasonable prices. Check with one of the online real estate sites or contact one of the Ashkelon real estate professionals in Ashkelon Business Directory.

BUILT WITH A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

With wide access roads and multiple highway entrances to the city, Ashkelon is built for today and future growth.

AFRIDAR – THE JEWEL OF ASHKELON

Of all the neighborhoods in Ashkelon, Afridar stands out as a unique community and the most in demand. If you take a walk through the neighborhood, it will not take long to understand why there is such demand for Afridar.

Afridar (AFRI + DAR = AFRIca + AmiDAR) was founded as an Anglo community in 1951 by the Zionist Federation of South Africa. The community was built with a rural flavor, predominantly single-family homes with laneways connecting them and lots of green spaces. Because of its proximity to the beach (five minutes from HaTayasim), its rustic feeling and very few apartment towers, it is the most sought-after neighborhood in the city. The city has kept many of the original bylaws, ensuring that the neighborhood maintains that special feel for years to come.

Calm Streets

Ashkelon was planned to enable traffic to flow in a way that makes sense. In the residential areas, many of the streets use roundabouts instead of traffic lights. The roundabouts enable large amounts of traffic to flow, without the delays caused by traffic lights. The circles help beautify the neighborhood with sculptures, fountains or trees. Many of the roundabouts incorporate a maritime theme, such as boats or fish.

Like a Walk in the Country

Some of the neighborhoods, especially Afridar, are built with laneways lined with single family homes. The effect is a very laid back and friendly community, where people can unload their groceries and then park in a lot near the house.

Finding a residence in Afridar can be a challenge because it is so much in demand.

If you want to live close to the beach in Afridar, look on HaTayasim, Hashayetet and Modiin. Neighboring Afridar, and closer to the beach, look for new and taller buildings on Yefe Nof. There are about 25 to 30 apartment buildings in and close to Afridar that are no more than ten minutes to the beach. If you are willing to live a little bit farther away, check out the buildings on Ort, Dov Brier and the eastern side of Afridar.

Ashkelon is almost the same physical size as Tel Aviv, but has a fraction of the population. The size enabled city planners to build large access roads and lots of green and public spaces. Below are a number of neighborhoods to explore.

Barnea is situated north of Afridar and offers lower prices than Afridar.
