Welcome to Ashkelon!

One of the first things that you will need to do is to transfer Arnona (property tax), gas, electricity and water to your name. The process is not difficult, but may require some patience.

On the day that you take possession, start by photographing your water, gas and electric meters and write down the meter number of each meter.

You might find that paying through a Horaat Keva (automatic bank withdrawal) might be easier and leave more room on your debit/credit card for other purchases. These instructions will be changed to add Horaat Keva when more volunteers tell us how they arranged them.

Navigating the different offices (Misrad) during Covid-19 has added confusion to the process. Most of the offices are closed or closed to the public or see people with by appointment. Times may change when people can call. Here is where having a friend or relative who speaks Hebrew comes in handy. Be patient, there are extremely long hold times by phone and most menus are in Ivrit, Check with a reputable source for updated information. Ashkelon Anglo Community on WhatsApp, Ashkelon 123.com on the web are just two.
